For Students Entering 1st Grade The summer is a great time
to practice math by playing games online. It's also a great time to
point out numbers and math wherever you see them. Students have access
to the Everyday Math online games and reference information. The games
on the website are online versions of the same games we play in class
to practice math skills. This summer’s math requirement: students should practice math, using the Everyday Math online games, for a total of at least 1 hour for the summer. (Teachers will be able to check student progress and time spent working with the games.) Students will each be given their personal login information and passwords. General instructions for how to login for the games can be found at the end of this page. The games include instructions on how to play. You will enjoy playing the games and they will give you a chance to practice math while having fun. You can also try the activities listed in the Entering
1st Grade End of Year Family
Letter for students who have completed Kindergarten (click on words in box). For Students Entering 2nd – 6th Grade This year’s Summer Math program
consists of a packet of materials. These Math packets were created to
align with the Everyday Math Curriculum used during the school year
to provide additional practice during the summer. Each week consists
of six problems that review, maintain and deepen the skills and concepts
learned in the six strands of mathematics: Operations and Computation,
Numeration, Patterns, Functions and Algebra, Data & Chance, Measurement
& Reference Frames, and Geometry. There is a packet of materials
for each grade level. Just click on the grade below that your student
will be entering in the fall and you will be able to print out the
packets. Each problem in the packets will consist of three levels: basic,
moderate, and challenge/extension. Most problems at the basic and moderate
level should be able to be completed by the student independently. Challenge/extension
problems are more complex and may require outside data and/or assistance.
Skills and concepts within each strand are listed below. Answer the
questions on the worksheets, or use another sheet of paper if you need
more room. Please do not leave all of
the problems for the last week of summer. It is best if students can
complete the problem sets each week throughout the summer. If there
is material that students can not remember, please refer to the online
Student Reference books at the Everyday Math website. Login information
has been sent home with each student and instructions can be found at
the end of this page. In addition, it is helpful
to have students continue to play the online math games at the Everyday
Math website. While there is no specific time requirement for these
games this summer, it is helpful to play each game several times. The
login information for that is the same as for the reference books. For All Grades There are also a number of
“Do Anytime Activities” that you can try over the summer. These
can be found in the End of the Year Family Letter that has been sent
home with students. It can also be found by clicking on the links below. Links for Summer Math Packets

school year. If you have trouble finding your information please email rlempert@hebrewdayinstitute. To login please go to: www.everydaymathonline.com Click on “Student Login”
on the left side of the page. From there click on the games
site. This takes you to the online games and reference materials. Just
click on your grade level and you’re ready to play. Additional Games You will also find a collection of links to websites that have additional online math activities, games and practice drills. The levels within each game vary and most games become increasingly difficult as the games are played. These games are not part of the summer math requirement but can be played for additional practice and fun. |
