Message from Head of the School

Welcome to Hebrew Day Institute. Our school, established in 1973, is a RAVSAK-affiliated Jewish Community Day School, located in the heart of Montgomery County on a beautiful campus in Rockville, Maryland.  We serve children from Kindergarten through Grade 6, and offer an integrated and enriched General Studies and Judaic curriculum in a warm and nurturing environment, where every student in the school is known by each staff member. 

Hebrew Day Institute focuses on meeting the needs of each individual student.  Our ‘differentiated’ teaching style and small classroom sizes allow our teachers to ensure that every child will be successful and reach his or her full learning potential.  We recognize that each child has a unique ‘learning style’ and our teachers are trained to recognize this important factor by individualizing the learning experience within the classroom setting.  Together, we partner with the parents, teachers, and the students to meet the needs of each child, whether they are gifted, high achievers, or have areas which might need some remediation.

Our focus on “Seeing the World through Jewish Eyes” helps to assure that each student will cherish their Jewish identity while at the same time receiving the very best general studies education in the community.  We want our students to learn to act as a ‘mensch’ while participating in the broader community in which they live.  We teach our academically enriched curriculum in a thematic approach in which multi-disciplinary areas of study are correlated and integrated throughout the day; this helps the learning process by ‘contextualizing’ the learning experience in a hands-on, fun, and experiential environment.

All of our teachers are trained in the curricular areas in which they instruct, and our core curriculum is further enriched by specialists who teach Art, Music, Science, Computers, Technology, Media, and Physical Education.  We are very proud of the wonderful reputation that Hebrew Day Institute has built over the past 37 years, and we welcome you to call to set up a time to have an individual tour of our school.
