Science Overview
Our hands-on, inquiry based, science program is developed to encourage students to explore the world around them. Investigative learning allows exploration, development of critical thinking skills, learning how to ask questions and of course having fun. Everyone should have great time while learning about the world around them.
Students will learn through a variety of activities including comprehensive lab activities, guest speakers, field trips, and the annual Science Fair. The Science Fair gives students the opportunity to select a topic of interest and, using the scientific method, research and conduct an experiment to express and explain their learning process.
Henry Newhouse Weatherbug Weather Station
Ruth and Henry Newhouse had a dream - a weather station at Hebrew Day Institute which would integrate into all facets of our curriculum. Their dream is now a reality. Ruth Newhouse generously donated the funds for the Weatherbug Weather Station, in memory of Henry, allowing us to infuse real time information into our math, science, social studies and language arts curricula.
The Henry Newhouse Weatherbug Weather Station resides in our Media and Technology Center and is used daily by our students, faculty and parents.
