Language Arts Overview

Our Language Arts program is an integrated approach to teaching reading, spelling, grammar, writing, comprehension, and research skills which aligns with our educational philosophy. The materials used including textbooks, workbooks, teachers' guides, trade books, resources, multi-media aids, and computer software give students and teachers the tools they need to create a dynamic program in grades K-6.

Students will be excited by the stories they read and be able to learn the necessary skills in a comprehensive and meaningful way to maximize learning.  Vocabulary, spelling, and comprehension activities are taken directly from the stories.  Skills spiral and build upon one another.  Technology is an important component of the program as students learn to make proper use of the tools and resources available to them.  In addition, teachers integrate the stories and concepts available in the program with our Hebrew and Judaics curriculum.

Houghton Mifflin is the publisher of our Language Arts program.  They are one of the leading educational textbook publishers in the country.  With its origins dating back to 1832, Houghton Mifflin Company combines its tradition of excellence with a commitment to innovation in order to satisfy the lifelong need to learn.
